nice read! this is very informative. i think that its better to think of better ways to make than to be "cheap" as you say. tricking Google is not a good idea at all. if you do, and you get busted, you'll pay for it (less traffic). anyways thanks for sharing.

Think Link. The only place you need your coarse words are in the link text, which will establish the target page's reputation.

Next, Google's LSI already acts as a built-in thesaurus, so it knows tons of synonyms and contexts.

Yes, exactly. My opinion is that attempting to trick Google is a bad idea. They don't like that sort of thing, and they will catch you eventually. If you go down that road you're constantly running in place, trying to keep up with their latest algo changes. Best to just give them what they want in the first place.

I beg to differ... showing the spiders different content is a blackhat technique that can get you banned. Probably one best avoided.

It's well known that Google often spider using 'other' useragents (for instance identifying their spider as firefox) to catch out people doing this kind of thing.

The easiest way to 'trick' bots into spidering one set of words would be to monitor the Useragents, or known IPs for the spiders, and present a different page set altogether for them. IPB and the products that we make have a different skin set built in for spiders, the content is the same though.

A better way to handle it would be to introduce another attribute to the -a- tag, something along the lines of -a href=yay means='hooray,awesome,yar'-. SE's could spider the content, and associate the similar words to the keywords from the content.
